The 78th Annual Oscars are tonight and frankly, I can’t wait. Although most awards shows are meaningless fluff and this isn’t much different. The difference is Oscar Chat 5. Each year, we here at Cinema Blend host an Oscar Chat and the broadcast hasn’t been boring since. Not only do you get to hang out with celebrities like Josh Tyler and Rafe Telsch, you can participate in some pretty funny banter amongst all types of movie fans. This year, we are again giving out door prizes again. These prizes include: shirts, dvds, and gift certificates. Of course, if you are really lucky, CB Graphical Guru Matt Sinopoli will talk directly to you. That’s an award in itself. Please stop by at Cinema Blend’s Oscar Chat 5 and make sure to say you read about it in ‘The Clicker’.

As awesome as Blenders T-shirts and Brokeback Mountain DVDs are, it would be nice to be a nominee for just one Academy Awards broadcast. I guess it isn’t enough to be rich and famous, nominees will receive gifts that total over $100,000 PER NOMINEE. Giving gift bags to stars began in 1988 as a way to reward these poor celebrities for coming all the way to the theatre, battling their way down a red carpet lined with adoring fans. For God’s sake, somebody give Halle Berry a Purple Heart already. The poor girl! Did you see the emotional effects of winning caused her a few year’s ago? She deserved two bags!

Frankly, I think gift giving is becoming outrageous when the total amount of the bags exceeds the total budget of all the Best Picture nominees. This year, nominees will receive: a trip to Bora Bora, Botox injections, Tahitian pearls, $20,000 in plastic surgery coupons (I’m not joking!), Swarovski crystal-encrusted Palm Treo smartphones, diamond rings, cameras monogrammed in diamonds, and custom-tailored Hugo Boss suits. You might also get dog biscuits shaped like Oscar statuettes too! My poor dog, Chewie, gets original Flavored Meatbone. I feel ashamed.

So while you're watching the Oscars or participating in our Oscar Chat, think about how these poor celebrities are suffering. Maybe Frito-Lay can send me a few bags of Cheetohs to reward me for having to walk all the way to the kitchen for snacks. See you next time!

What to Watch (3/05 to 3/11)

Sunday March 5

Suit up The Academy Awards (ABC) 8:00pm
I honestly can’t miss this show broadcast every year and I am not sure why. Combine pretentious celebrities with a snails pace and you get an awards show. This award show recognizes my favorite past time: movies. Don’t just watch the Oscars. Join us for our Oscar Chat

Monday March 6

How I Met Your Mother 8:30pm
Cupcake- Victoria and Ed possibly have to separate when she’s offered a position at a German Culinary Institute. Barney takes Morgan on a “suit up” lesson.

24 (FOX) 9:00pm
Day 5: 5:00-6:00pm and 6:00-7:00pm- Two hours of Bauer, baby! The Russkies decide to use the nerve gas on American soil since President Gore Logan screwed things up again. CTU races to stop them and Jack has to track down his old boss, Christopher Henderson.

Tuesday March 7

Amazing Race 9 (CBS) 10:00pm
I’m filthy and I love it-TAR returned last week and immediately had a better episode than all of the horrible family edition from the fall. Team Dork is too kissy, Team Brokeback aren’t strong contributors, and Team Frosty are quite obnoxious. I’m going for the hippies. You can’t go wrong with hippies.

Wednesday March 8

CSI:NY (CBS) 10:00
Cool Hunter- I refuse to recommend another Lost rerun until ABC starts airing the show like Fox airs 24. These reruns are ridiculous. Oh CSI? Somebody dies and Gary Sinise grimaces. It’s still good TV though.

Survivor Thursday March 9

Survivor: Exile Island (CBS) 8:00pm
Starvation and Desertion- Those wacky Casaya tribe members have another fight while the lack of food really hurts La Mina. At the end of the episode, Probst will remind us all that only you can prevent wildfires.

Friday March 10

Battlestar Galactica (Sci-Fi) 10:00pm EST [90 minutes]
Lay Down Your Burdens part 2-The season finale is sadly here. Laura Roslyn and Baltar disagree over colonization. I’ll spare you the spoilers but this episode looks to be the best of the year. I don’t know what to do while I wait for season 3. I guess I could watch Stargate: Atlantis. Hahahaha. No really.. what will I do?

Saturday March 11

Saturday Night Live (NBC) 11:35pm
Matt Dillon hosts; Arctic Monkeys perform- Go out and get drunk with your buddies. After you strike out with the ladies, watch SNL. Horatio Sanz looks HAWT after about 10 beers.

Tell me what to watch! If you have a TV show that I need to watch, me. I’ll watch the show and you’ll get to see your words in lights!
Well, no lights. Maybe italics. If the show is really good, maybe bold! Yeah!
