Like most horror enthusiasts, I was more than skeptical of last years scare film The Descent. The idea that a bunch of women crawling around a cave would frighten me seemed all together laughable. Wow, I could not have been more wrong on that one. I ventured to the theater with a few of my buddies the weekend it came out, and within the first five minutes, I was doing my best four-year-old girl who needs her daddy impression. At one point, one of my less than manly friends even screeched “holy shit” at the top of his lungs in a pathetic and completely warranted trance. There’s been some recent rumblings about a possible sequel, but nothing has been confirmed until now.

According to Fangoria, director Neil Marshall recently revealed that a second picture is agreed to but that he will not be directing it. Instead, first time helmer and veteran editor Jon Harris will be taking over. Reportedly, the script is still being written; so, it’s unclear what direction the plot will take or who, if anyone, will be returning. It’s not all that surprising that our sequel crazy cinematic landscape would push for a follow-up, but I’m really glad it was this picture that got the thumbs up rather than some of its lesser competitors.
