The Devil Wears Tiaras![]()
Anne Hathaway is leaving the royal kingdom and joining the seventh layer of Hell, also known as the journalism industry.
Variety reports that Anne Hathaway of Princess Diaries fame is joining the cast of Fox 2000's big screen adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada. The novel, written by Lauren Weisberger, is a loosely based satirical retelling of her time working for Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Meryl Streep, one of the greatest actors on planet Earth, will play the role of nightmare boss Miranda Priestly. Hathaway will take the role of Andrea Sachs, a small-town girl who thinks she has landed her dream job when she is hired to assist Priestly. She winds up way over her head, adhering to her boss's numerous commands that involve keeping toilet time to a minimum in case she is needed for an errand. If she can just stick it out for a year, she can get the recommendation she needs to go work somewhere else without Lucifer running the joint. David Frankel has directed a few episodes of "Entourage" among other shows, and will helm the project. Aline Brosh McKenna has written the script based on the novel, and Wendy Finerman is producing. Streep has a total of eight different movies hitting theaters within the next 2 years, apparentely inspired by Jude Law's presence in every movie of 2004. Hathaway has made a wise career switch by appearing in a movie that that doesn't only appeal to people with Backstreet Boys posters plastered along the walls. The Devil Wears Prada will debut in late 2005. |
