The Fiendish Four![]()
Spider-man 3 is two years away from theatres but rumors are beginning to heat up. Recently, we reported on Thomas Hayden Church and Topher Grace signing up as villains for Spidey. We weren’t sure which villains they were going to portray but we had a few guesses.
Today, SHH! and a few other sites are reporting that Spider-man will possibly have 4 villains to face. Who are the four? Rumors have it that we will see The Hobgoblin, The Sandman, The Vulture, and Venom. Let’s recap. Harry Osborne (James Franco) obviously will be a major part of this movie after he realized Peter Parker and Spider-man were one in the same. If those 4 villains are correct, he’ll obviously be the Hobgoblin. I’m thinking that Church will be the Sandman since he’s brawnier than Grace. Church has hinted to this as well. Next, we have The Vulture. OK, the Vulture just sucks. There is no way around this. If anybody tries to argue about the coolness of an old man dressed like a vulture, I will mock you in my next story. What I don’t get is if they are going to have a 4th villain, why isn’t it that astronaut guy who becomes a wolf man or something? Or The Lizard? At least those characters were introduced in S2. But if the Vulture is in this movie, I hope it’s one of those throw-away scenes at the beginning of the movie to get the action rolling. I really don’t give a damn about character development for this guy. And with Venom’s name mentioned, the comic geeks rejoice! Heck, I even like the idea. Grace will be great in this role. But am I the only one thinking “How in the heck are they going to cram all of this into one movie?” Fear not, I think I have an idea. Okay, the Vulture is just a throwaway character that is gone within the first 5-7 minutes of the movie. The Hobgoblin HAS to be the focus of this movie. We must complete the Peter-Harry arc. The Sandman can be a brute-force henchman that joins forces with The Hobgoblin. All the while, we are introduced to Grace’s character. I don’t remember how he becomes Venom but I’m sure they are going to change this for the movie. End Spider-man 3 with Venom defeating Spidey and reeking havoc (or should I say carnage?). Since Dunst isn’t signed on for a 4th movie, may I suggest killing her off? Poor Spidey needs more bad things to happen. Then Venom can be the main bad guy in Spider-man 4. If you don’t plan on making a 4, I sure as hell can’t figure out why the need to squeeze Venom into this movie. I’m also not sure I want to see a 4th movie if they can’t get Tobey Maguire back though. Spider-man 3 is scheduled for a May 4, 2007 release. |
