The Fountain Trailer Debuts With A Splash![]()
If you’re like me, you’ve been anxiously waiting to see Darren Aronofsky’s epic sci-fi romance The Fountain for what feels like decades. It’s been a rocky road for the flick, with Brad Pitt storming off the set (to do bigger and better things, like divorce his wife) and post-production wrap-ups lingering on endlessly. But alas, the day has finally come: the first full trailer for the movie has graced the internet. It’s no longer a hopeful figment of our imaginations; it really exists.
The Fountain is an odyssey about the thousand-year struggle of one man (Hugh Jackman) to save the woman he loves (Rachel Weisz). His journey spans time as a conquistador in 16th Century Spain, a modern-day scientist, and a 26th century astronaut. While his wife is dying of cancer, he searches for the Tree of Life, in hopes of finding the magic elixir that grants eternal life. The trailer, which can be seen here, looks like a beautifully shot acid trip reminiscent of Terry Gilliam's style. It raises the question, “What if you could live forever”, and shows a variety of gorgeous scenes that will make you eager to find out the answer. Darren Aronofsky hasn’t let me down yet between the brilliance of Requiem for a Dream and Pi, and this looks like his most ambitious project yet. The must-see epic tale will (finally) hit theaters on October 13th. |
