Are Phil, Stu and Alan going to Thailand for The Hangover 2 or not? A year ago during a chat with Zach Galifianakis, Latino Review uncovered the possibility that that could be the boys’ final destination for round two. “I think we're going to Thailand,” Galifianakis explained. “So we get, I think, kind of kidnapped. It has nothing to do with the bachelor party. We're definitely not doing that again but we do end up in an exotic location.”

That was the plan until director Todd Phillips crossed Thailand off the possible setting list as well as Mexico. A few months ago Phillips told Collider, “There’s a lot of rumors. There was rumor also that it was going to Mexico or something and neither are true.” Either Phillips was out of the loop himself or attempting to put the film’s plot back under wraps because now Coming Soon reports that the The Hangover 2 is indeed set in Thailand. The cast and crew will head over to Asia sometime in the fall to get the production underway.

Thailand, Mexico or wherever; who really cares? Whether Galifianakis’ plot summary is accurate or not, the location shouldn’t hold too much of a bearing on what will make or break The Hangover 2, how these guys get into trouble this time around. If the title holds true, they’ve got to get obscenely drunk or have a little something slipped in their drinks at some point whether it’s at the hands of kidnappers or a bud with good intentions. With the shooting season fast approaching, hopefully we’ll get some more details on this one soon.
