The Homelander Finds A Home At Summit![]()
While it's almost impossible to see a movie these days without the familiar Summit Entertainment logo attached to it, the studio behind Twilight is trying their damnedest to ensure their future as the billion dollar franchise comes to a close. By acquiring the rights to Isaac Marion's Warm Bodies novel recently (Essentially Twilight with zombies, and guaranteed many sequels), and their newly acquired property The Homelander, the studio has done enough to keep itself alive for the next decade.
Homelander is yet another series of novels aimed at young adults, but before you go jumping to the obvious "this is just the next Twilight" conclusion, allow me to enlighten you. The books have been described as "Bourne-esque" and after reading a full synopsis of book one, The Last Thing I Remember, there's really no comparison to Twilight at all aside from the targeted age group. And even then, this series seems to be much more aimed at teenage boys looking for adventure, rather than teenage girls who want weepy, emo boyfriends. According to THR, the book's author Andrew Klavan is no stranger to the Hollywood scene; two of his novels, True Crime with Clint Eastwood and Don't Say A Word with the late Brittany Murphy, have found their way to the big screen already. However, this is his first run at the young adult market. Expect more news on this series very soon as there's almost no way the Taylor Lautner won't be stepping into the lead role. |
