It turns out The Hurt Locker is being remembered by a lot more critics than we may have realized. Some predicted that the tiny gem would be forgotten by voters during awards season due to its early release, but here we are in December, and it seems to be holding its own. Having already taken some big trophies home from the New York Film Critics Circle (among others), the flick today swept the Chicago Film Critics Awards, winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and every other award it was nominated for.

This is particularly interesting because the Chicago Film Critics Association’s membership includes big time critics like Roger Ebert, Richard Roeper, and Bill Zwecker. Could The Hurt Locker be a surprise winner at the Oscars? I sure hope so.
