Like so many super-hero movies, Marvel has tried to kick off The Incredible Hulk with a campaign of secrecy. Over the summer we got to see a silhouetted version of the monster. Of course, with a separate Hulk movie only a few years old, it seems kind of silly to hide the main character. The brainiacs behind this not-a-sequel picture must have realized that, because they’ve filled that silhouette in with an image of The Hulk himself.
Super Hero Hype has picked up a look at the filled-in image courtesy of one of their scoopers. It turns out I was wrong – this does look slightly different from The Hulk’s version of the character. I’m not sure if it’s because Edward Norton and Eric Bana have different facial structures, but it almost looks as if the classic Hulk actor, Lou Ferrigno has been used as a source of inspiration for the newer model. I actually like that a lot more than the previous version of the character.
I’m still unsure about this whole “not-a-sequel” classification, but there are a lot of indications that this is going to be a vastly superior movie, from Edward Norton’s script adaptations to an approach that will presumably avoid the pitfalls of Ang Lee’s stylistic approach.
