The Jackass Boys Get Two Projects Set Up At Paramount![]()
It's like it's 2002 all over again. This past October Jackass 3D absolutely destroyed everyone's expectations when it recorded a $50 million box office take in its first weekend (a record for that part of the calendar). As a result, Johnny Knoxville and the boys are once again chic and are starting to get acting roles again.
Deadline reports that Paramount has set up two new projects with some of the Jackass boys in mind to star. The first project, titled First Man, would star Johnny Knoxville as the husband of the first female US president. After managing to behave himself during the run up to the election, he resorts back to his hellraiser ways once they move into the White House. The script was written by Matt Spicer and Max Winkler, who previously worked together on the film Ceremony with Uma Thurman, due out on April 8th. The second project, titled Mustache Riders, the studio actually purchased back in 2008, but is being reformatted to work with its new stars Knoxville, Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn. The three actors will play small time criminals who head out on a treasure hunt led by a "grizzled old outlaw," played by Willie Nelson. Both movies are being produced by Knoxville's Dickhouse Entertainment label, with Broken Lizard and Gerber Pictures also backing the latter film. As much as I enjoyed Jackass 3D, I'm still hesitant about seeing the boys outside of their natural element. Knoxville had a run as an actor back in the early '00s, but it resulted in movies like The Dukes of Hazzard and Men in Black II. Perhaps he'll have more luck the second time around. |
