You’d think audience disinterest in the trilogy’s finale would be enough to kill any potential for future Matrix movies. But as long as there’s still a few drops of money to be squeezed out of it, more sequels are always a possibility.

In another bout of wild rumor reporting (and come on, there’s nothing more fun than wild rumorific speculation), the guys over at MovieHole say there may be another Matrix movie on deck soon. Actually, they phrase it as: “I heard a rumor the other day of another “Matrix” in the works … or at least something related.”

What does “something related” mean? It probably means a spinoff without any of the actors or primary characters from the previous movies. Think something along the lines of the animated shorts from the “Animatrix”. I’m not saying it’ll necessarily be an animated movie (though it could be), but it’s probably some sort of related storyline rather than any kind of direct sequel to the films we all know. That is, if it’s even true. Even MH seems rather uncertain. Right now it’s nothing but random gossip.
