The Muppets' First Poster Shows Their Feet
Maybe you’re excited about all the superhero movies still to be released this year, but the truth is, the only movie I really care about is The Muppets. The Jason Segel scripted, James Bobin directed revitalization of Jim Henson’s legacy arrives this fall and while we haven’t seen much from it yet, I suspect that’s about to change. There’s no trailer yet, but to whet your appetite, the first Muppets poster has appeared.
Here it is, courtesy of AICN:
Here’s what you should notice. Feet. The Muppets have feet. One thing about Muppets, you can’t really show their feet very often, because if you do you’ll see the Muppeteer sitting next to Kermit with his hand up everyone’s favorite frog’s rectum. The few times when we have seen Kermit’s feet in any of the previous Muppet movies, it’s always been a sort of “wow” how did they do that special effects moment. There’s that scene in The Great Muppet Caper, for instance, where Kermit’s shown riding a bicycle. That always stuck with me. Here’s the scene, in case you haven’t seen it before: So as a Muppet fan what this poster tells me is that, maybe, showing Muppet feet isn’t going to be such a special thing anymore. I suppose it’s about time Muppet technology took a step forward, and if there’s a next step it probably involves far more Muppet wide shots than we’re used to. Sounds good, even if it doesn’t exactly fit with what we saw them filming in some of the photos leaked out of the set. |
