Back in May it was reported that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was circling a role in the upcoming Fast and the Furious film, titled Fast Five. News on that production has been dead since, but now, thanks to an actor's Twitter account, the rumor can be confirmed.

Tyrese Gibson, an admitted Twitter addict, has let it slip that Johnson has indeed been cast in the film, writing "Major shouts to Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, & Dewayne [sic] "Rock" Johnson!! "Fast & Furious Five" Let's get em again!!" The details of The Rock's character remain unknown, but sources with Collider say that his character will be “on the right side of the law.”

Twitter: a blessing and a curse. On the one hand it gives every self-absorbed idiot an opportunity to share even the smallest details of their lives, whether or not anybody wants to hear it. On the other, it gives us news bits like this that probably piss off studios to no end. Fair trade.
