New Line has unveiled the vocal talent behind their next animated picture, Planet 51, which is about a community on the titular planet who fear an alien invasion. One day their fear becomes a strong reality when an astronaut from Earth arrives on their little world. With such a large story you’d expect a pretty (inter)stellar cast, and New Line is definitely delivering.

Continuing his family-friendly streak, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will lead the cast as Earth Astronaut Captain Charles “Chuck” Baker. Justin Long will play sidekick to Johnson as Lem, a Planet 51 local that befriends the Earth astronaut, while Seann William Scott will play Skiff, sidekick to Long’s sidekick. Scott and Johnson both appeared together previously in Southland Tales.

Of course, what’s a movie without a love interest? Captain Baker’s love interest will appear in the form of Neera, who will be voiced by Jessica Biel.

That’s a pretty decent vocal cast for an animated feature. Here’s hoping the story and animation holds up so this isn’t just stunt casting in order to give the marketing people something to work with.
