The Rock Is Cooking For G.I. Joe 2![]()
It’s starting to look like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is making the transition from leading man to character actor. It makes sense. His last few starring roles in movies like Tooth Fairy and Faster were basically flops. On the other hand the supporting roles he’s taken have resulted in mega-blockbusters like The Other Guys and Fast Five. Next up he may fade into the background as part of the G.I. Joe 2 cast.
Deadline says the sequel is being called G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes, though they seem to have missed the memo that it won’t be in 3D though apparently they did read our story about possible Star Trek: The Next delays. As for Dwayne he’s playing a character named “Roadblock” in the movie. In the original Joe lore Roadblock is a former bouncer and gourmet chef from Biloxi, Mississippi who now cooks and specializes in heavy weapons as part of the US Military. Imagine The Rock with a Browning machine gun in one hand and a spoon in the other. Cute "can you smell what The Rock" is cooking jokes. There’s also word that Channing Tatum is set to return to the series as Duke. You might think that’s a given, but some of the other original G.I. Joe castmembers have already bailed on the sequel. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, for instance, is already out and won’t be back as Cobra Commander. |
