Homer Simpson finally has a place to call home. Out of thirteen towns named Springfield across the United States, Springfield, Vermont has become the official home of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and the dozens of memorable characters from “The Simpsons”.
Vermont won the bragging rights through a contest that invited Springfields to submit short videos showcasing why they should be the home for the Simpson family. Vermont’s entry: a Homer Simpson look-a-like chasing an oversized pink doughnut through the town. The video allowed the town to show off similarities to the fictional Springfield, such as housing a nuclear power plant, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Aside from just getting to call themselves the home of The Simpsons, Springfield, Vermont also gets to host a premiere of the new Simpsons Movie. There’s no telling how many of the town’s 9,500 residents get to come to the premiere, but the Homer Simpson look-a-like had better be invited, with all the doughnuts he can eat.
