The first ever trailer for Disney’s new live action take on The Sorcerer’s Apprentice has arrive and, ok let’s be honest, it’s just the usual bunch of over the top CGI every effects heavy movie seems to throw at the screen. Computers have killed creativity. That said, this particular bunch of obvious animation may be a lot of fun.

Nic Cage plays the sorcerer in question and Jay Baruchel, whom you may remember from Tropic Thunder is the titular apprentice in his training. From the trailer it looks like they’ll be battling a bunch of flying statues and pointy-eared Asians. But the main thing here is the tone of the trailer which is a little bit gritty and edgy. And then there’s Nic Cage who, seems to be playing his sorcerer character as if he’s just a little bit crazy. Cage is at his best when he’s crazy. This could be good.
