Hugo Weaving has chased Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity in The Matrix and hunted down Autobots in The Transformers. Now he’s adding another antagonist role to his resume as he joins the cast of The Wolfman remake, according to Variety.
Weaving will play Detective Aberline, a man in pursuit of Larry Talbot, Benicio del Toro’s character who suddenly finds himself under the curse of lycanthropy. No doubt Aberline will be relentless in his pursuit of Talbot and Weaving will once again appear to be a man obsessed with his quarry.
The Wolfman cast is really rounding out, with del Toro in the lead, Anthony Hopkins as Talbot’s father, Emily Blunt as the love interest, and now Weaving as the antagonist. Since Joe Johnston was announced as the replacement director for the departed Mark Romanek, I have quite a bit of excitement about the possibilities of this remake.
