When you present a beautiful, leggy woman, somehow men seem to appear in droves—sometimes even four at a time. According to Production Weekly, Andre Benjamin, Woody Harrelson, Ray Liotta and Martin Henderson have all joined the cast of Theron’s rhyming film Battle In Seattle. The script will be written and directed by—who else?—her main squeeze Stuart Townsend.
The Irish actor will make his directorial debut on the film, about a group of characters who get caught up in the 1999 protests against the World Trade Organization. Between 40,000 and 60,000 people decided to make noise against the WTO’s Third Ministerial, and they gathered in grungy Seattle to lodge their complaints. Theron will play a pregnant lady who loses her child in the middle of the mayhem.
Seven years may have passed since 1999, but little has changed—the people were annoyed by excessive corporate power, globalization, and the inability of the working class to keep their heads above water. Yep, lots of progress since then, clearly.
The film will be shot like a faux-documentary, which makes sense since United 93 cinematographer Barry Ackroyd is also on board. Principal photography will begin November 1st.
