Now that Walter Hill has officially signed on to direct Sylvester Stallone in Headshot, after being revealed a few weeks ago as Stallone's top choice, it's time for the rest of the cast to start assembling accordingly. Unwilling to wait for an official press release or anything like that, Thomas Jane went ahead and let the cat out of the bag on the Arrow in the Head Podcast; he's signed on to star opposite Stallone as an NYPD detective who's paired with Stallone's hitman character to solve two murders. Given that shooting starts later this year in New Orleans, I imagine Jane's character is a New York transplant stuck for some reason in the Big Easy.

Here's what Jane had to tell them about his character:

"He's a hitman, I'm a cop, and we're just opposite in every f*cking way, and we need each other to get this job done. And of course I'm like, 'As soon as this job's over, I'm going to take you to jail, you know, you're a killer.'"

Given that Jane's last movie role was his uncredited appearance as part of the "Vegan Police" in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, I'm basically now thinking of him and Stallone in this movie as being a variation on the Vegan Police, high-fiving each other in the air and everything. I'm not saying I'll be disappointed in the movie if it doesn't turn out that way, but Stallone might want to bone up on whether or not gelato is vegan, just in case.
