As the oft-maligned, hopelessly optimistic yet dopey to a fault Lieutenant Jim Dangle on Reno 911, actor Thomas Lennon always struck me as the kind of guy destined to strive to first but always finish last. That may have been true for his Daisy Duke-wearing police officer, but Lennon is a guy clearly ahead of the game in Hollywood. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lennon has just confirmed roles the two upcoming movies A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas and the Chris Evans and Anna Farris romantic comedy What’s Your Number.

In the next Harold and Kumar tokefest, Lennon will play Harold’s neighbor, a family man, whose path crosses with the weed-smoking pair. In What’s Your Number he’ll play one of Farris’s ex-boyfriends.

Lennon has shown in his roles in I Love You Man and Hancock the ability to play the everyman; if the everyman was always just a little too serious and self-involved. What pops up on screen is a guy we laugh at, without really understanding exactly why. It's comedy gold.
