Three Studios Want To Distribute Kick-Ass![]()
When he presented footage of his film to a rapturous audience at Comic Con, Matthew Vaughn joked that it might be the only part of the film anyone ever got to see. The twisted superhero movie went into the Con without a distributor, and was counting on word-of-mouth to get attention from studios who might otherwise be nervous about distributing a movie in which children murder people.
And voila! It worked! According to THR's Risky Biz Blog, Paramount, Lionsgate and Universal are all angling to pick up Vaughn's film. Even better, they all see it as a bargain, given that it has potential to become a franchise, and hey, they didn't have to pay to make it themselves. You can watch the footage that premiered at Comic Con here, though I'd really rather you didn't-- the footage is tremendous, and really better watched in high-res format. Regardless, with a studio distributing it, we'll likely see lots more of Kick-Ass in the coming months. It's a Comic Con miracle! |
