Tim Blake Nelson Will Help Drew Barrymore Save The Whales
The movie in which Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski save the whales, appropriately titled Everybody Loves Whales, is set to start filming this fall, which means it's time for the supporting cast to start filling in the gaps. Kristen Bell has already been cast as a snotty news reporter who gets in the way of the rescue effort, and now THR reports that Tim Blake Nelson is on board to play a wildlife expert.
The film is based on a true story and is set in 1988, when three gray whales became trapped under the ice in the Arctic Circle and the United States and the USSR joined together to save them. It's based on a book by Tom Rose with the title Freeing the Whales: How the Media Created the World's Greatest Non-Event, but the movie seems likely to take a much less cynical approach to the story. Because it's a metaphor for perestroika, right? And breaking through the ice? And somehow John Krasinski and Drew Barrymore will fall in love as a result? Yeah, I think you probably get it.
