Tim Burton Working With Seth Grahame-Smith On New Stop Motion Animated Film
Say what you will about Tim Burton's career as a whole, but there's no denying that he has had a massive impact on the world of stop-motion animation. Between his work on The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride and the upcoming Frankenweenie, Burton can say that he is one of the few live-action directors to dabble in stop motion and he is certainly the one with the highest profile. And lucky for us he won't be abandoning the medium any time soon.
THR recently had the opportunity to sit down with Seth Grahame-Smith, who very recently worked with Tim Burton on both Dark Shadows and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and the writer revealed that he and the Beetlejuice filmmaker are working together on a stop-motion animated monster movie called Night of the Living. While Grahame-Smith didn't reveal any story details, apparently he has been developing the idea for years and revealed it to Burton on the Dark Shadows set. The scribe is currently working on the script over at Warner Bros., and once he finishes his draft he plans to work on an adaptation of his own new novel, Unholy Night - which is in bookstores today.
It's a bit to early to judge this project as we haven't really gotten to see how Burton and Grahame-Smith work together. That will change next month when Dark Shadows arrives in theaters. Until then, let's just be happy that people out there are still interested in the fascinating medium of stop-motion.
