Sick of remakes? Wish someone would do something about it? Here’s an idea… what if the people involved in making the originals actually got up off their ass and denounced some of the junk that’s being done to their work? Sadly, it never happens since usually they’re either working actors who don’t want to get on the bad side of a studio executive or the movie’s so old that everyone involved is dead.

Tippi Hedren however, fits into neither category. She’s still alive and she’s old enough that she’s not taking crap from anyone. Hedren was one of the stars of Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece The Birds, one of… well… every film that’s been discussed recently to be headed for a remake. Unlike other asskissing actors who kowtow and pretend they’re happy to see everything they ever worked for erased and redone by some no-talent idiot, she’s speaking out. She recently told MTV: “A couple of years ago, when they were first thinking about it, they called and asked what I thought about a remake of ‘The Birds, and I thought ‘Why would you do that? Why?’ I mean, can’t we find new stories, new things to do?"

Go get em Tippi! This is Hitchcock they’re screwing with after all. He’s a god. She continues, “Must you be so insecure that you have to take a film that’s a classic, and I think a success and try to do it over? They tried to make Psycho over and it didn’t work.”

While the Psycho remake didn’t work, sadly most other remakes do. They may be unmitigated pieces of crap, but they almost always end up making money. That means the blame falls on all of you, dear moviegoers. When you sheep step up to the counter to buy a ticket for the inevitable remake of The Birds, just remember, Tippi Hedren hates you.
