When you first glance at the title, Prisoners of Trebek sounds like it could be some kind of schlocky sci-fi B-movie. But then you sit a minute and realize that Trebek doesn't just sound like the name of some silly far-off planet, but it's the name of an actual human. Well, presumably Alex Trebek is human, but I heard a radio interview with the Jeopardy! host once, and I'm inclined to believe otherwise.

Anyway, Prisoners of Trebek is in fact a real movie, and according to Pajiba the lighthearted comedy will star Tobey Maguire as a guy who tries to master Jeopardy! and falls in love in the process (no, I had no idea the two could possibly be related). William Wheeler wrote the script, which apparently contains elements of a Charlie Kaufman film.

Of course, we reported like an hour ago that Maguire may also play Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit, and given that he's committed to Spider-Man 4 and a guy's gotta take a break to eat once in a while, I'm not sure how this new one fits into the schedule. It sounds like a nice film and all, but when given the choice between giant tentpole and a quirky indie, we know where most actors tend to go.
