Hanging out with God is big these days. I hear Mel Gibson keeps him on his set at all times. On television he used to serve lunch to Joan of Arcadia. Not long ago the G-man made a big splash on movie screens hanging out with Jim Carrey in Bruce Almighty. He’ll be back in the sequel, Evan Almighty to hang out with Steve Carell. But now Variety says the big G is also connecting with Starsky & Hutch, Old School director Todd Phillips. He’s sending Todd postcards.
The movie is called The Disassociate, and Phillips has been hired to direct it from a script by Zach Helm. It’s a comedy about a guy who starts wondering if he’s crazy when good old God starts sending him postcards. Sort of like Oh God if George Burns only worked through long distance relationships.
Todd has made a lot of money for Warner Bros., the company funding the film. Starsky & Hutch, Old School, and his other film Road Trip were nice monkey makers for them. So you’d think he could get them to let him have something better than a postal service knockoff of a dozen other almighty comedies already in existence. Apparently not.
