Toddlers & Tiaras Star To Play Darla In Little Rascals Movie

A common refrain of stage moms on the TLC reality show Toddlers & Tiaras is that the glitz pageants they put their kids through are a great way to build their confidence, and provide a path to make their make-up slathered toddler a star. Toddlers & Tiaras's Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson has become the series latest breakout figure with her own hit reality show that has spurred heated debates on TV and online, but before there was Honey Boo Boo, there was Eden Wood.

Wood is former a pint-sized pageant girl (she retired at age 6) who won numerous titles—several which were featured on Toddlers & Tiaras--and has her own self-named reality spin-off series Eden's World. And now she's taking her next step to stardom with a starring role in a new Little Rascals movie. Check out Eden in action below:

Universal's Home Entertainment division is producing a straight-to-DVD movie that will bring back Spanky, Alfalfa, Buckwheat and the gang for a new adventure, and THR reports that Woods has landed her first dramatic role, playing Alfalfa's love interest Darla. Though joining a cast that includes adult stars Doris Roberts, Greg Germann, and Lex Medlin, Woods will likely be the biggest star among the kiddie cast, as producers are expected to fill out the rest of the Little Rascal roles with unknowns. Casting this tiny reality show titan is a shrewd move by producers, since—whatever your thoughts on pageants or Toddlers & Tiaras--her involvement makes this DVD release a headline-snagging story. So, now you know the Little Rascals are coming back.

While this home video release is currently untitled, we know Roberts will play a generous baker, whose shop is being threatened by a greedy businessman (German) who wants to raze it to build his own personal putting green. Presumably, it will be up to the Little Rascals to save the bakery with a series of adorable hijinks. Alex Zamm, who has helmed a string of straight-to-DVD movies including Inspector Gadget 2, will direct. Production on this project will begin this week.
