Tom Cruise And Jack Nicholson May Reunite For El Presidente
Easily one of the most memorable exchanges in film history is the one between Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson in Rob Reiner's A Few Good Men. We all know the lines: "I want the truth!" "You can't handle the truth!" It's been parodied and referenced in thousands of different places and is a major piece of pop culture. Strangely enough, however, while both actors have had long and healthy filmographies, they have not been in the same movie since they appeared together in that 1992 film. Now they might finally be getting back together.
The Los Angeles Times reports that both Cruise and Nicholson are being talked about for a film called El Presidente, a comedy for Warner Bros. In the film, written by former Daily Show scribe Dan Goor, a secret service agent is hired to protect an ex-president described as "bumbling and degenerate." According to the article, Cruise is attached to play the part of the secret service agent while an offer is out to Nicholson for the part of the ex-president.
I may be alone here, but I really like this premise. Nicholson films have been few and far between in recent years and it would be great to see how the two play off each other. Throw in the great potential of political commentary from a Daily Show writer and you have a formula for success.
