Tom Cruise Defects![]()
While Tom Cruise is over in Germany pretending to be a Nazi for Bryan Singer, his agents are busy hammering out a deal for him to star a Kurt Wimmer scripted drama called Edwin A. Salt, according to Variety.
The movie is a drama in which Cruise would play a CIA officer named Salt, accused of being a defector by a Russian double agent. Taking a page from, well just about every spy movie you’ve ever seen, Salt must elude capture and clear his name. This is really original stuff, exactly what you’d expect from the guy behind Ultraviolet. Except Wimmer also wrote The Thomas Crown Affair which should mean there’s a decent writer in there… somewhere. Terry George may end up directing. He wrote and directed Hotel Rwanda. Team the director of Ultraviolet and the director of Hotel Rwanda together can only result in one thing: A black hole. Or whatever happens when you combine matter and anti-matter. Something like that. |
