The Razzies were created to bash the worst in moviemaking each year. Think of them as a cautionary tale. They’re the anti-oscars, but they don’t always do a good job of picking out what’s truly bad. This year’s Golden Raspberry Nominees have been announced, and as usual they seemed to be partially based on what they think will get them the most attention and partially based on what’s actually bad. For instance, does Tom Cruise really deserve to be nominated for worse performance in War of the Worlds, or were the Razzie voters just looking for a really big target? It’s too easy to nominate the entire cast of Miss Congeniality 2, no one is going to pay attention to that. That said, this is probably the closest to spot on group of nominations they’ve come out with in awhile. Deuce Bigalow 2 certainly deserves all the vitriol it can get.
