Tom Cruise Sci Fi Project Horizons Likely Moving To Universal![]()
It’s really amazing Disney was ever on board with making Joseph Kosinski’s Horizons. The family-friendly movie studio has swum into the older kid waters with the PG-13 fare Pirates Of The Caribbean, but those films were based off of a theme park ride at Disney World. Agreeing to finance an original, totally unrelated project that might be unfit for most children always seemed like a stretch to me; so, it’s no surprise they eventually pulled out, leaving a big question mark next to the big budget film.
Fear not though, sci-fi fans. Apparently, Universal is starting to show plenty of interest. The deal’s not closed yet, but it seems like a great sign that they’re already trying to organize an October start. Horizons exists in a futuristic world where soldiers are employed to guard strange planets. One of them, to be played by ultimate movie star Tom Cruise, encounters a strange visitor, and together, the two forge an unlikely friendship. According to THR, there's no word on who might eventually be hired to direct, but Kosinski will produce alongside Barry Levine and Jeffrey Silver. Beyond that, little is known about the elusive script written by William Monahan and Karl Gadjusek, but expect the finished product to in no way resemble Paul. |
