Tom Cruise Thriller One Shot Adds Beauty Alexia Fast To Cast![]()
Alexia Fast is the latest name added to the growing ensemble for One Shot, Christopher McQuarrie’s adaptation of the Lee Child novel that has cast Tom Cruise in the lead role of Jack Reacher, a seasoned military veteran turned homicide investigator.
Fast, whose previous credits include the recent thriller Triple Dog and TV work on Flashpoint and Tin Man, will play Sandy, a beautiful but potentially treacherous character who will be used to dupe Cruise’s hero, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Not that Child’s fan base needs to be told that. They’ve propped the Reacher stories on a pedestal, and already know by heart the fact that One Shot follows the respected cop as he looks into a sniper assassination that involves the mudre of five random victims. That passion for the Reacher books also has fans up in arms over the casting of Cruise in the lead role, but McQuarrie is doing what he can to fill the production with dependable actors. A few days ago the great Richard Jenkins joined One Shot as the father of a district attorney (played by the always excellent Rosamund Pike). David Oyelowo, recently seen in The Help and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, also has been cast. And now Fast. Granted, most of the pressure falls on Cruise, who’s normally suited to carry any type of action franchise. And I’m sure we’ll hear more as McQuarrie starts up production in Pittsburgh in October. But given the fact that the director helmed the underrated The Way of the Gun and took home the Oscar for writing The Usual Suspects, I’d say Reacher fans can take comfort in the fact that their story is in good hands. |
