I gained a new respect for Tom Cruise last year, when I attended a press conference for Valkyrie and saw first-hand how committed the man is to old-fashioned showmanship-- making the crowd laugh, making sure every question gets a good answer, pretending he's just as excited to be talking to you as you are to see him.
And apparently he brings that attitude on the set too, as evidenced by photos from Splash News on the set of Wichita, in which he's not only doing his own stunts, but waving to the camera and the assembled crowds when they're over. It takes a special kind of actor to put effort not only into his acting but pleasing the soon-to-be-audiences at the same time.
Check out two of the photos below, or much bigger versions at Splash News. In Wichita, Cruise plays an international spy who takes Cameron Diaz on a dangerous worldwide hunt for some kind of mega-powerful battery. Sure, it sounds a little silly, but you know you'll want to see it anyway.
