When Angelina adamantly declared her disinterest in doing another Tomb Raider, I think everyone assumed the franchise was dead. After all, it was barely successful with her, let alone without her. But a few months ago Angelina started talking about doing a third one, and several sources reporter that she was even preparing to star training.

Now we have some sort of confirmation that a Tomb Raider 3 plan does exist. ComingSoon has picked up an article from Eurogamer which says Paramount has agreed to hire a screenwriter for Tomb Raider 3.

This doesn't mean the movie is green-lit, but it does mean they're seriously considering it. If Angelina Jolie is open to doing it, prepare for another barely successful at the box office, fem-powered action flick. The first movie made an whopping $131 million. By the second film audience interest had dropped to the point that Tomb Raider 2 only managed $65 million domestically, its $90 million international take is the only reason anyone is still talking about it.
