Tommy Lee Jones Sues No Country Producers![]()
Just when you thought it was settled that No Country for Old Men was a big hit that satisfied everyone involved, legal troubles with star Tommy Lee Jones have shown up to rain on everyone's parade. Jones, according to TMZ, has filed a lawsuit against Paramount Pictures, claiming that he accepted a reduced fee for starring in the movie with the promise of a cut of the box office. The second end of the deal, though, has not been honored.
It seems that Paramount made the movie under the assumption that it was risky, and probably wouldn't make so much money in the end that they would have to pay Jones a significant amount. But oh, poor Paramount, the movie they took a gamble on turned out to be a hit, and now the actor who worked on it for peanuts is asking for what he fairly earned. It's times like these that some people-- including the horrendous commenters at TMZ-- accuse actors like Jones of being greedy, when in fact they're just trying to make sure their contract is fulfilled. We're all grateful for Jones' wonderful performance in the movie, right? Then we should be grateful he's fighting to get what he deserves for it. |
