Maybe ‘Arrested Development’s’ ratings were a disappointment, but the show did wonders for Jason Bateman’s career. Since it went off the air he’s been loaded down with great opportunities. He had a substantial role opposite Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Anniston this summer in The Break-Up, this fall he’s in a movie with Zach Braff and Amanda Peet called Fast Track, and now Production Weekly says he’s in negotiations to join the cast of Tonight He Comes.

Directed by Friday Night Lights’ Peter Berg, the film stars Will Smith as a down and out, alcoholic superhero who crash-lands in Brooklyn and tries to change his life by romancing an alluring housewife played by Charlize Theron. Bateman will play Theron’s husband, and a public relations consultant who tries to fix Smith’s image after being rescued by him.

Continuing his big movie streak, Jason Bateman can next be seen in the cool ensemble flick Smokin’ Aces. He’s also just finished another Peter Berg movie The Kingdom and a fantasy knockoff of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory called Mr. Magoo’s Wonder Emporium.
