Tragedy Strikes Dark Knight![]()
Even the caped crusader wasn’t enough to avert tragedy at a special effects facility working on Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins, the hit rebirth of the Batman franchise. A special effects technician was killed when his vehicle hit a tree while practicing a stunt for the film.
Warner Brothers was quick to announce that none of the movie’s sizable cast was present at the time of the accident. The announcement sounds like an attempt to distance the studio and production from the accident, as the studio also said the accident didn’t happen on the set or during filming for The Dark Knight according to Reuters. Of course no filming was going on, but it’s hard to think a stunt that reportedly involved the Batmobile wasn’t involved with the movie in some way. The name of the deceased has not been released, although it was stated in the accident report that the technician who passed away was on the camera car, not the vehicle performing the stunt. It’s always a tragedy when those behind the scenes meet their demise in on-set accidents. An actor (especially a famous name) would garner tons of attention and sympathy, but this as-yet-unnamed technician will probably go mostly unremembered as far as The Dark Knight goes, despite being just as responsible for the movie’s success as anyone else involved. |
