When we walked past the poster in a theater last night, I managed to convince my wife that The Astronaut Famer was a movie about moon ranching. I paid for that later when I finally gave in and told her it’s really kind of like October Sky, with a much, much older guy.
If The Astronaut Farmer works half as well as the story of Homer Hickam, this could be a truly special film. Billy Bob Thornton stars as a man who unites his family behind his dream… of launching himself into space. He builds a rocket in his barn, and naturally the oppressive and evil American government tries to shut him down.
