About a million years ago, I walked past the set for a movie with the dumbest title I’d ever seen-- My Sassy Girl. OK, it was actually about a year and a half ago, and it’s probably not the absolute dumbest title ever. At least it was remarkable enough for me to remember it, and wonder when this movie with the scene shot on a boulder in Central Park in fall of 2006 would ever come out. Given that it starred Elisha Cuthbert and Jesse Bradford, who don’t exactly scream “marquee names,” I wasn’t sure I’d ever see it.

There’s no release date set for the movie, but hey, at least there’s a trailer! It’s one of those trailers that gives away basically the entire plot, though there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of plot to begin with—guy meets crazy girl, crazy girl teaches him about life even though she’s, uh, crazy. I mean, this is a romance that begins when the guy rescues the girl from being hit by a subway car because she’s so drunk she passes out on the subway platform. Ah, true love.

And the scene I saw them filming is even in the trailer, right toward the end, and it seems they’re intentionally trying to make it look strange that a single tree with a few pink blossoms on it was growing out of a boulder in the middle of autumn. (I thought I was catching something the production designer hadn’t noticed) Anyway, the movie looks entirely ridiculous but maybe a little bit fun, but thanks to the glories of YouTube, you can judge for yourself. I can’t promise the movie won’t go straight-to-DVD, but at least we’ll know what we’re missing.
