I still have no idea why Don Cheadle is in Hotel for Dogs, a movie you'd figure would be beneath him by now, but I'm still pretty charmed by the movie's first full-length trailer. Cheadle is nowhere in sight, so maybe that's why-- not having to see him shame himself by getting peed on by a dog, at least not yet.

The trailer, originally posted at Yahoo! Movies, shows siblings Andi (Emma Roberts) and Bruce (Jake T. Austin) discovering an abandoned hotel where stray dogs have holed up, rather than being taken to the pound. The kids, along with some of their friends, decide to help out, gathering dogs from all over town to live in the hotel, and inventing some Doc Brown-worthy contraptions to keep the dogs entertained (a machine that throws tennis balls! A vending machine that dispenses old shoes to chew on!) Of course, things go awry, and of course, there are lots of jokes about dog poop and dog actors forced to do all kinds of silly things. But isn't that what kids movies are for?

Hotel for Dogs comes out January 23, which means if it's any good at all, it will be a lone bright spot in the usual cinematic wasteland. Check out the trailer below and see if you're feeling as generous as I am.
