A month from now at the Sundance Film Festival, a lot of us will get to find out for ourselves whether Kristen Stewart has what it takes to play Joan Jett convincingly in The Runaways, a new movie about the 1970s girl punk group. But it's not too early to start judging: MTV has posted the first trailer for the film, in which Stewart, her mullet and her singing abilities are finally out there for the world to see.

It's a short trailer, but leaves plenty of time to witness Stewart singing "Cherry Bomb," Dakota Fanning moving fully into grown-up territory (as if those spooky red eyes in New Moon weren't enough), and, even though it doesn't look all that bad, a lot of die-hard rock and roll fans dying a little bit inside.
