There's smart timing for releasing a new trailer, and then there's just plain kismet. Universal's decision to launch the trailer for the new Nancy Meyers comedy It's Complicated comes on the eve of the release of Julia & Julia, a.k.a. America's latest opportunity to fall in love with Meryl Streep. Need another hit? Go see It's Complicated starring Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin!

Given that there is a side of me that regularly reads Oprah Magazine, I really should have anticipated how much I'd enjoy watching this trailer. It's Streep doing her usual earthy, middle-aged and having a blast thing, with Alec Baldwin as her ex-husband who wants her back ,and Steve Martin as the goofy architect trying to woo her as well. The supporting cast is packed with familiar faces like John Krasinski, and it basically looks like the exact same experience as Meyers' last good movie, Something's Gotta Give. And frankly, Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin are a whole lot more likable than Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson, so it's an automatic bonus.

Watch the trailer in glorious high-res over at Apple.com. My one quibble would be the title, which seems to too desperately be courting the Facebook generation while also mocking it. Yes, our moms are on Facebook and that's weird-- can't we just leave it at that? But really, take one look at Steve Martin dancing goofily toward Meryl Streep, and I promise you'll forget all about it. Coming out on Christmas Day, this honest to God looks like a real treat.
