It’s great news that even though his fantastic, unfairly overlooked movie Ghost Town was something of a box office bomb last year, Ricky Gervais’ movie career still seems to be moving full speed ahead. This September he’ll be thrust into yet another series of extremely awkward situations in an unfamiliar environment in The Invention of Lying.

Like Ghost Town it’s another high-concept comedy that treats its high concept as if it’s rather ordinary. Ricky Gervais lives in a world without lies and, he happens to be the first person to discover the joys of a fib. The movie’s first trailer is here and what you’ll almost certainly notice about it is how real it feels. The actors, even glamorous actresses like Tina Fey and Jennifer Garner are wearing almost no makeup, giving them the opposite look of whatever that weird shiny thing Megan Fox has going on in Transformers 2 is. Oh yes, I think it’s called reality.
