There are pretty much two options for movies coming out in December-- the heavy awards season contender and the fluffy, family-friendly effort. Everybody's Fine, with its story about a widower (Robert De Niro) traveling around the country to reconnect with his children, really seems to fall squarely into the latter camp.

I perked up a little bit when I read In Contention's assessment that De Niro might be in the running for an Oscar nomination for his work alongside Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell as his adult children. But I've got to say, after seeing the trailer that debuted at Yahoo! Movies (where you can see it in high-res), Everybody's Fine is looking a lot more like that cozy, home-for-the-holidays comedy than Oscar bait.

Not that it looks bad-- the collection of actors is definitely appealing, and spending time with this crew in December wouldn't be so bad. But whether it's a weak trailer or just a more traditional movie than we'd thought, I'm not getting the Oscar vibe from this one. What do you guys think?
