Robert Pattinson, bless him, is really trying hard to be known as someone other than the sparkly guy from Twilight. Unlike Kristen Stewart he didn't have any notable rules under his belt before the Twilight train picked him up, so he's been stuck playing roles like a gay Salvador Dali (in Little Ashes) all while everyone wants to call him Edward Cullen.
Next step in his "take me seriously" tour? Remember Me, an indie set in New York City, whose trailer just debuted at MySpace (you can see it embedded below as well). Based on the trailer it's hard to tell exactly what the movie is about-- Pattinson plays a college kid rebelling against his suit father (Pierce Brosnan), getting into trouble with a cop (Chris Cooper), and falling for that cop's daughter (Emilie de Ravin). It looks angsty and maybe predictable, but also kind of enjoyable. Also, when he's not done up with pale skin and stuffy suits as Edward, this Pattinson kid is actually kinda cute! Who knew??
Check out the trailer below, and if you're a Pattinson skeptic like I am, you might find yourself a little convinced. Though it is hilarious to watch and realize that three of the four main characters are faking their American accents-- de Ravin and Pattinson do just fine, but Pierce Brosnan, you were James Bond; you're fooling no one.
