I admit, when I saw House of the Devil at the Tribeca Film Festival, I found it slow, self-indulgent, and utterly ridiculous. Apparently I was completely off base, because all the horror fans came out of the festival raving about its old-school intensity and subtle use of tension. Yet another reason why my opinion on horror is pretty much worthless.

But if you're a horror fan, you may like the movie, and for that matter its trailer, which just premiered at Hulu and is also available embedded below. It actually does a nice job of condensing the best moments of the film into a trailer that convinces you that something actually happens over the course of this film. But don't be fooled! Unless, of course, you would rather decide on it for yourself, which is probably the best plan in this case.
