Trailer Trash: Ratatouille, Goya, The Devil![]()
When trailers fall in between the Cinema Blend’s couch cushions, they eventually get vacuumed up and deposited here in Trailer Trash. Today's bag of Trailer Trash contains three future viewing possibilities, and one trashy classic.
First we have a trailer for the eagerly anticipated next Pixar movie Ratatouille. This is the first real, English language, American version. Next up is the explosive, awesome trailer for a little New Zealand indie movie called The Devil Made Me Do It. Bring a fire suit to that one. Third in line is a mediocre trailer for the heavily buzzed Natalie Portman tortured-for-her-art movie Goya’s Ghosts. Last, we’ve got a bonus trailer of questionable moral character. Scroll! Ratatouille – full English trailer It’s the new movie from animation genius Brad Bird, and that means sit up and pay attention. Ratatouille is about a rat named Remy who dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family’s wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. When fate places Remy in the sewers of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau. Despite the apparent dangers of being an unlikely - and certainly unwanted - visitor in the kitchen of a fine French restaurant, Remy’s passion for cooking soon sets into motion a hilarious and exciting rat race that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down. Every time the trailer for The Devil Dared Me To cranked up, the audience went wild. This latest entry from the movie hotbed of New Zealand is a low budget, completely over the top extravaganza of explosions, foul language, body damage, and crazed stuntmen. Even better, they’ve managed to work in some sort of plot as well. Here it is: Every kiwi lad dreams of greatness. But for little Randy Cambell, the dream is as big as the stunts his not-so-death-defying father died attempting. Young Randy Cambell yearns to be NZ's greatest living stuntman, much to the chagrin of his aunt and uncle who understand that the petrol running in Randy's veins is bound to ignite one day. Can the love of a one-legged female Evil Knieval save Randy and break his descendants' long legacy of fiery and fatal confrontations with the grim reaper? But in the case of Goya’s Ghosts the world has sat up and taken notice. No, the American Idol crowd has not developed a sudden appreciation for fine art. The truth is that the only reason anyone cares about Goya’s Ghosts is because there’s a nasty rumor going around that Natalie Portman will be naked in it. Well let’s put that to rest right now. She won’t. It’s a body double. Move on. Here’s the film’s first trailer: As long as we’re on the subject of trashy celebrity nudity, why not revisit one of the genre’s trashiest. Anyone remember Drew Barrymore’s all grown up movie Poison Ivy? No? Then you’re a better person than I am. For the rest of you, here’s the trailer: |
