Transformer 2 Updates From Director, Writer, And Actress![]()
Forget about The Dark Knight. It comes out this week, and then all that anticipation and shameless plugging will go away. No, the future of geekdom is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which is reminding fans of its presence with a slew of interviews this week, all of which are barely saying anything about the movie.
Megan Fox, who reprises her role as Mikaela Barnes, probably makes the most promising statement about the Transformers sequel, telling Sci-Fi Wire that the second movie is crazier, ”by like a hundred.” Way to provide perspective there Fox. Seriously, though, the actress says they’re working on a scene with Bumblebee, in a version of the yellow car that goes up to 120 miles per hour. ”We're in it with no seat belts or harnesses or anything. It's, if we die, we die, all in the name of Transformers.” See, that’s the kind of dedication we like to see from our action stars. Director/producer Michael Bay doesn’t deny that the sequel is bigger, but he prepares EW readers for the reality of a sequel that isn’t a setup for a third movie. ” I said to the writers, ‘I hate sequels that try to make it to the third movie. Pretend like we’re never having a third movie, so let’s go for broke on the second one. I hate those cliffhangers! Let’s just make this movie stand on its own.’” Bay also admits that he’s been taking a similar approach to the Transformers sequel as he took to the first one. While the director concedes that there are rumors out there, he states a lot of them are fake, planted by his people to keep things secret. So, even those official tidbits coming from, oh, say, Sci-Fi Wire interviews with writer Roberto Orci may not be on the up and up. About that Orci interview - the writer says a few things that we hope aren’t fake. For instance, Orci says the action starts a lot sooner in this movie, putting the Transformers right in your face from the beginning, instead of making this a mystery like the first picture. There’s also a lot less humans, and a lot more robots. ”This movie is structured differently in that you now know there are Transformers in the world, and therefore you can get right to them. As a result, there's kind of more Transformers throughout the movie." Oh, and Transformer hardcore brethren: Orci confirms the presence of Soundwave, although he doesn’t say what the character will transform into. He’s a little less forthcoming on information about female Autobot Arcee, or more time spent on the Transformer homeworld. Then again, even if he did talk about them, who knows whether he was being honest or just doing Michael Bay’s bidding and planting fake rumors. |
