If the internet seems a little slow this evening, it's only because it's been flooded with hordes of grown up geeks scouring it for any sign of the newly released teaser trailer for Transformers.

That's right, the trailer is out. Earlier today a bootlegged version started leaking across the net. Paramount had originally intended to hold on to it until Monday, but once it started to leak, instead of threatening websites like this one with a bevy of cease and desists, they gave in and just let us have the damn thing.

Wow, this may be the first time in history a studio has ever been able to get it.

They've made the trailer available on the film's official site, and as a reward for their efforts it's been absolutely flooded with traffic to the point that their server has gone completely down. I don't think I've ever seen that happen to an official studio site before.

I suppose we should all be thankful that it's not a lame logo teaser, so give Michael Bay and Paramount credit for that. The trailer shows NASA robot rovers on the surface on Mars. There's a voiceover about how we weren't prepared for what's coming… and then in a flash you see the silhouette of a Transformer smashing the camera on the rover. Better than a logo teaser, but we're really not seeing much. Who knew Optimus was a Martian? Will he be painted green? He already has an antennae.
